This month, we’re excited to highlight Beaufort realtor Megan Whitney, a dedicated Lowcountry real estate professional whose journey reflects the charm, resilience, and genuine warmth of the Beaufort community. Megan’s story blends family, fresh starts, and an undeniable love for coastal living—making her a standout agent in the Beaufort, SC real estate market.

From the North Country to the Lowcountry
Born and raised in Connecticut, Megan spent her early years in the Northeast, attending college in Philadelphia before settling in Burlington, Vermont. Everything changed when her sister moved south nearly a decade ago. Megan quickly discovered the magic of the Lowcountry lifestyle.
“I knew there was something special about living down here,” Megan recalls. “The people, the water, the sense of community. It just felt right.”
When the pandemic hit, Megan and her husband—both furloughed—traveled to Beaufort to spend time with family. What was supposed to be a month-long stay became a turning point.
“I wasn’t going back north,” Megan laughed. “The decision to make Beaufort our permanent home was easy.”
From Snowboards to Sold Signs
Before entering real estate, Megan built a successful career in partnerships and project management at Burton Snowboards. There, she mastered communication, collaboration, and creative problem-solving—skills that transitioned seamlessly into real estate.
“Even as a kid, I was fascinated by houses. My dad used to take us to open houses just for fun.”
She earned her real estate license in Vermont in 2020, working part-time at first. Within a year, she knew it was time to go all in. Today, Megan proudly serves clients throughout Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head as an agent with the Gruel Group.
A Realtor Who Puts People First
In an industry where trust matters, Megan stands out for her honesty, transparency, and client-first approach.
“I’m always honest with my clients,” she said. “I want them to feel informed, supported, and comfortable. This is their journey. I’m here to help them navigate it.”
Her warm personality and commitment to communication consistently earn her praise among Lowcountry homebuyers and sellers.
Building a Life and a Business in Beaufort

Since planting roots in Beaufort, Megan and her husband have fully embraced coastal living. Together, they own Property Preservation SC, a local construction and property maintenance business specializing in fences, decks, and general improvements.
“I love design and home improvement,” Megan shared. “Helping clients envision how to make a home their own is one of my favorite parts of this job.”
Outside of work, you’ll catch her running along the Spanish Moss Trail, discovering new local restaurants, or enjoying music bingo nights at Shellring Ale Works, a beloved Beaufort hotspot.
A Deep Appreciation for Community
What Megan loves most about Beaufort is its sense of connection and authentic hometown feel.
“People truly care here,” she said. “It feels like home in every sense.”
Her favorite neighborhood to guide clients through? Cottage Farms—a welcoming, family-friendly community that captures the heart of Lowcountry living.
“It reminds me of where I grew up,” she added. “It’s nostalgic, walkable, and perfect for families.”
Guided by Family and Faith in Herself
Megan draws inspiration from her dad, an independent contractor who built his business from the ground up. His work ethic and integrity shaped her own values as a real estate professional.
“He taught me to trust my instincts and not be afraid to take the leap.”
Her personal motto?
“Live every day like it’s your last, and do it for the people you love.”
Looking Ahead
With her real estate career thriving, her family business growing, and endless opportunities in the Beaufort SC real estate market, Megan sees a bright future ahead.
“We’re not going back north,” she said with a smile. “This is home now, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.”
